What is Access Pennsylvania?

Access Pennsylvania (Access PA) is a database that contains holdings from participating Pennsylvania libraries. FHS/FMS is a participating library; most of our collections is listed on this database. Most materials listed in the Access PA database are available for interlibrary loan (ILL) use.

When would I use Access PA?

You can search the Access PA database to locate materials, which the FHS/FMS library does not have, that would be useful to you. If you find a book or other item on Access PA that you would like to borrow, you will need to bring in the book's title (including author's name) to the library staff. Then, depending upon the time of school year, the library staff will process your ILL request. If you have any further questions, stop in the library or feel free to e-mail Mr Galey.

How long does an ILL request take?

ILL requests can take at least two (2) weeks to complete. Many times, the request will take longer than two (2) weeks. Therefore, if you know you will need an ILL request to complete a school assignment, you will need to plan accordingly.

Are there any Access PA/ILL request restrictions?

Yes. ILL requests can not be made after mid-April of the current school year for personal requests or May 1st of the current school year for school-related requests. In addition, ILL requests cannot be made during school holidays or breaks. ILL requests for non-school related materials may be restricted. If you request an ILL item from Access PA and then obtain it from another source, please let the library staff know ASAP so they can cancel the ILL request. ILL requests will not be made for items that can be borrowed from the Franklin Public Library.
